Walks along and around the River Slea<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The banks of the River Slea and the surrounding area are ideal for walking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Below we have a variety of walks of different lengths that you can download and print. \u00a0These walks are a series of scenic, predominantly level, walks centred on the Navigation. These encompass chalky uplands to the West of Sleaford and Fenland to the East.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clicking on the walks will allow you to download information and a sketch map in PDF format to print out. The details can be used in conjunction with an Ordnance Survey Map if you so wish.\u00a0 This series of walks were originally developed by Hugh Marrows for Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership and the Trust are grateful to be able to reproduce them.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Walk 1 8\u00bc miles (13 km)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

From Sleaford to North and South Rauceby to find the source of the River Slea.\u00a0 This is a walk on urban and country footpaths, farm tracks, green lanes, meadows and one arable field.\u00a0 Short muddy sections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walk 2\u00a06\u00be miles (11 km)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

This is a walk by the Sleaford Navigation from Sleaford to Ewerby Waithe although the footpath has recently been blocked at Ferry Farm it is therefore advisable to only walk the Sleaford to Haverholme section.\u00a0 Initially along a surfaced towpath in Sleaford but otherwise grass with some muddy sections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walk 3\u00a06\u00bc miles (10 km)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

A linear walk starting at Ferry Bridge, near South Kyme and finishing at Chapel Hill Bridge. The walk is along the towpath throughout with rough, tussocky grass in places.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walk 5\u00a04\u00bd mile (7 km)<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

This is a circular walk from Haverholme Lock through Ruskington. \u00a0 The walk will take you along the towpath, through meadows, with a short section on arable land and country lanes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walk 6\u00a011\u00bd mile (18.5 km)<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

This is a circular walk through Ruskington, starting and finishing in Sleaford. \u00a0The walk takes you along town pavements, track and footpaths, some of which are muddy and the Navigation towpath.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walk 8 \u00a0\u00a01\u00be mile (3 km)<\/span><\/h3>\n

This is a short circular walk, around the village of South Kyme with an optional extension to Ferry Farm Bridge, along a selection of easy, level canal side paths, meadow and country lanes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walk 9 \u00a05\u00bd miles (9 km)<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

A circular walk starting at Chapel Hill Bridge along country roads, farm tracks and grass towpath which can be rough in places. \u00a0This is an easy walk underfoot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walk 10 \u00a02\u00bc miles (3.5 km)<\/span><\/h3>\n

This is a short circular walk starting at Chapel Hill along easy riverbank paths, tracks and quiet roads. \u00a0This walk can be pleasantly extended along the River Witham.<\/span><\/p>\n
