Please will boaters be aware that the navigation is currently closed at Bottom Lock. The Environment Agency has informed the Trust that the guillotine gate on the lock needs a safety inspection and will therefore be out of operation until this has been completed.
The gates on the lock are normally chained back for the winter when the water level on the Witham is dropped in October so it is very likely that passage through Bottom Lock will not now be possible until next year.
